Alicia graduated from Huntington University with a Master of Arts degree in Counseling. She previously earned a Master of Science degree in Education from Canisius College and taught English Literature and French at the middle/high school level in Michigan.
Alicia is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) working with individuals of all ages. Alicia has a passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with behavioral and emotional issues including those with a history of trauma, anxiety, depression, and anger management difficulties. Additionally, Alicia has experience with individuals and pre-marriage/married couples facing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, parenting challenges, and life transitions. As an EMDR trained therapist, Alicia has specialized training working with those healing from various types of trauma. She has also provided services as a mental health counselor in several local, private schools. Previous employment as a therapist includes: Park Center (DBT Clinic); Crosswinds; and We Care Counseling Center.
Alicia is an empathetic listener with a warm and caring nature which allows her to connect with a diverse population. She values the therapeutic relationship as one of trust and collaboration. Alicia is grounded firmly in professional and life experiences and her counseling style is supportive and compassionate yet challenging when necessary. Alicia and her husband have been married for over 24 years and have two daughters: one in high school and the other attending college. The family attends St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
Therapy is provided from a variety of treatment modalities including client- centered; cognitive-behavioral; family systems; emotion focused; dialectical behavior theory; play therapy; and faith integration (at client's desire). Alicia is the Group Facilitator for a bi-weekly process group for grandprents raising their grandchildren in Huntington, Indiana. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Huntington University.
