Shannon McElroy

Shannon (Brady) Mc Elroy obtained her Master’s of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Saint Francis in 2012.  She has been board certified as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2019.  She has her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Business Communications from Concordia University of Wisconsin.

From 2011-2013, Shannon counseled individuals and families involved in the court system at SCAN and Lifeline Youth & Family Services.  Since 2013, Shannon served self-referred clients at Crosswinds, Inc.  Shannon has a wealth of experience navigating difficult and complicated family situations included post-divorce, blended families and adoption.

Shannon has counseled adolescents and families who have serious emotional and behavioral problems. She has successfully helped youth with issues such as attention deficit disorder (ADD/ADHD) behavioral issues, social skills, anger management, grief and chronic mental health issues. Shannon also has past experience working with personality disorders and utilizing Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques with individuals and groups.

Shannon has completed specialized training in crisis management, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), treatment for anxiety and depression. Shannon has done specialized work with people that have experienced incidents of trauma: including physical, sexual or emotional abuse, accidents, injuries or any life threatening event. 

Additionally, Shannon works with marriages to enhance their bond and to heal from past wounds.  She is certified by SYMBIS (Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts) to facilitate pre-marital and martial counseling using the tool developed by Dr. Les and Leslie Parrot.  

Shannon enjoys teaching and has facilitated workshops and seminars on topics such as grief, suicide, and healthy marriages.

When not in the counseling room, Shannon is spending time with her husband, Nathan, and her adolescent daughter. She also enjoys traveling, nature, water, adventures and exercising. 

Shannon professes a Christian faith, however, is able to connect with clients from all faith or no faith backgrounds. She draws from a range of interventions, utilizing an integrative approach, all while valuing the collaborative relationship necessary for healing, growth and wellness.
